Jorge Oswaldo Aguirre Jr. was born in San Salvador, El Salvador. Brands and logos have always played a special role in Jorge's life. One of his earliest memories of logos is best explained through a story his father told him. When Jorge's family migrated to the United States in 1982, a man offered to help carry Jorge's 5-year-old sister in exchange for his father's Lacoste shirt, recognizing the little crocodile as a status symbol. This story instilled in Jorge an appreciation for the impact of brands, inspiring him to incorporate this understanding into his art later on in his art career.
Jorge earned his BFA with a concentration in painting from DePaul University in 2002 and later his MFA in Studio Arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2004. His post graduate work focused on digital media and video formats, exploring various ways to engage viewers. After moving to Los Angeles in 2005, Jorge pursued a career as a graphic artist, spending eight years as a full-time graphic designer for streetwear giant Stüssy. There, he produced web content, product graphics, marketing assets, and special collaborative projects.
In 2015, Jorge joined Nike, starting as a Senior Graphic Designer for Nike Basketball, moved into Sportswear to focus on product, and most recently was promoted to a Concept Director for Women’s Fitness. As a strategic thought leader and creative storyteller for Nike, he brings extensive experience in product creation for multi-generational audiences, staying ahead of trends in pop culture, design, and media. Jorge has led innovative design projects utilizing generative AI and 3D asset creation, centralizing creative expressions across various media. His diverse background in streetwear fashion, video editing, and fine arts enables him to distill complex ideas into clear, compelling concepts and build strong cross-functional relationships through effective communication.
